Introducing
“Dr.” Jason Gastrich,
“Ph.D.”
Jason Gastrich is a classic example of a typically
ignorant Young Earth Creationist. He usually refers to himself as
“Dr.” Jason Gastrich, “Ph.D.”. The
“Dr.” and “Ph.D.” titles have no
basis as measured by a real accredited degree; and as interpreted by
most people, the title appears to be fraudulent – see below.
Jason Gastrich is the owner/operator of multiple domain
name web addresses including his original “Jesus Christ Saves
Ministries” (jcsm.org). Some of these are blatantly commercial.
(e.g.
http://mychristiancareer.com/
“Earn $50-90,000/yearly”) Most are attempts to solicit
money and/or to fabricate an appearance
that they are “independent references that support”
Jason’s other domain names. If you want to find
the owner of any domain name (e.g. to check if it is one of
Jason’s), go to
http://www.whois.net,
and enter the domain name. Also, you can go to
http://centralops.net/co/DomainDossier.aspx
and get the numerical address for any domain name. Jason has bounced
his account around a couple of times, but the most recent numerical
address for his domains is 216.189.1.215
Jason was the author (Via pseudonyms as well as his own
name.) of a large number of self-promotional (and deceitful) entries in
Wikipedia. The editors/administrators at Wikipedia have tracked down
most of these entries, and they have subsequently been removed.
In the past, the “anyone can edit” system at
Wikipedia led to widespread abuses involving inaccurate data, political
“dirty tricks”, militant harassment by religious
fundamentalists, slander, and libel. The editors/administrators at
Wikipedia seem to be correcting these past problems, but viewers should
use their common sense if any entry in Wikipedia seems overly
promotional regarding any controversial person or institution.
Wikipedia update: From the administrators at
Wikipedia - “Jason
Gastrich and numerous sockpuppets were all banned for one year (From
March 21, 2006) for flagrant violation of multiple policies”.
“Passed 8 to 0 at 18:49, 21 March 2006 (UTC)”. The
“flagrant violation of multiple policies” included vote
rigging (e. g.
http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=print_topic;f=10;t=005700),
vandalism of entries by other users, etc. by Jason, his
pseudonym “Wikipedia members”, and other organized
mob activity that was orchestrated by Jason through his
“wiki4christ.com” website. (The ban has subsequently been
extended to a permanent ban.)

$2,000 lawsuit against me (and a link detailing Jason’s
misrepresentations of reality in the court documents) can be found near
the end of this document. The lawsuit was subsequently dismissed.
Abstract of Jason
Gastrich’s claimed degrees
In 2003, Jason Gastrich started referring to himself as
“Dr. Jason Gastrich” and claimed he had a “Doctor of
Theology Degree” from Shepherd Bible College. Research over a
period of a year revealed that Shepherd Bible College was in fact an
“unaccredited Bible school”. Further research showed it was
a one-man “Diploma Mill” run by Dennis Tio.
Jason tried to flaunt his Diploma Mill “Th. D.
degree” for nearly 3 years before documentation on this web page
forced him to “conveniently forget” any association with
“Shepherd Bible College”. (Also see below) Currently, Jason
no longer mentions it. However, I downloaded copies of his original
claims. If you would like a copy, send me an E-mail, and
I’ll return it with copies of Jason’s original claims
attached.
In 2006 Jason Gastrich continued calling himself “Dr Jason
Gastrich” as he had now added a “Ph.D.” from
“Louisiana Baptist University” to his educational claims.
LBU turns out to be another “unaccredited Bible school” as
it is not listed by either the U. S. Dept. of Education or by
CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation).
There is no exact definition of the phrases “Diploma
Mill” or “Degree Mill”. However, “unaccredited
Bible school” would probably be synonymous with these phrases if
a precise definition existed. “Diploma Mills” “award
degrees” based on anything that pleases them. (e.g. Send in some
money and they will award you a degree.) As long as they present
themselves as a religious institution, the “separation of church
and state” provisions of the U. S. Constitution exempt them from
any governmental regulation. This allows them to do anything they want.
While the Jason Gastrich example given here is typical,
the problem is widespread. Many other people claim similar
“Diploma Mill” degrees. We live in a world where many
people want (and expect to get) “something for nothing”,
and this includes a large scale demand for “advanced
degrees” without having to study for them. For example, a Google
search using Biblical degrees
online returns about 12,400,000 hits. (as of 8/21/06)
Deceptive Academic
Credentials
Mr. Gastrich’s claimed academic credentials
are from unaccredited mail-order religious schools. Originally, Jason
posted his
résumé at http://www.jcsm.org/MISC/Resume.htm, but has
subsequently removed it.. If you would like to see either of two
different original versions, please send me an E-mail and I’ll
return it with the two versions attached. The “Print
Screen” image below is from the most recent version.
Young Earth Creationists frequently use mail-order (and/or
self awarded) diplomas/degrees to falsely create the impression that
they have acquired knowledge equal to what most people have spent years
to learn. (Hint: Run a Google search using campus, faculty,
accreditation, etc. for the “schools” involved.)
For example, see: “
Creationists:
How to boost credentials without working!”
or run a Google search using online degree
creationism for thousands of hits.
Psst: Hey Jason! How about enhancing your résumé with a
Doctor of Divinity degree from this outfit? (“YOU will legally be
entitled to use the title Dr.”) It only costs $35.
http://www.ulc.org/catalog/drofdivinitydd-p-68.html
Shepherd Bible College
(From the above
“résumé”)
“Shepherd Bible College - Largo, FL - 2003
Received a Doctorate of Religious Arts in Theology (Th.D.) degree
–
Awarded for outstanding academic and ministry achievements”
(
Click
Here for a “Tongue-in-Cheek” version of Jason’s
résumé. It includes several “scientific
revelations” that were previously unknown to the rest of the
world.)
At one time Shepherd Bible College had a website at
http://www.tfsshepherduniversity.com/Accreditation.htm
(Web page has been subsequently changed.)
The following picture was captured via “Print Screen” from
this former source and is shown here in compliance with the “
Fair Use”
provision of U. S. Copyright Laws.
Guess whose name shows up as being in charge of OCCM
“Accreditation”?
If you want a copy of the original “Print
Screen” image, please send me an E-mail, and I will return it
with the picture added as an attachment. Subsequently, Shepherd Bible
College changed their URLs and the text on their web pages. As of Aug.
2004 a different version of this picture (see below) could be seen at
http://www.sbcollege.net/Accreditation.htm
where “accreditation” was replaced by
“affiliation.” (Web page has been subsequently changed.)
It is also interesting to note that in the original
picture (shown above), Jason Gastrich does not use the
“Dr.” prefix. If you check the more recent version (shown
below), the “Dr.” is shown. There may be a hint here
regarding the relative order of events
1) Jason Gastrich apparently gave Shepherd Bible College something that
they could use as an “accreditation” display.
2) Next, Jason received his award from Shepherd Bible College.
3) Finally, Jason sends a newer version of the graphic to Shepherd
Bible College.
For more information, search Google Groups using:
“Jason Gastrich” accreditation
Also, it appears this degree was an “honorary degree” as
opposed to something that required years of study.
For an in depth look at Jason Gastrich’s “degrees”
from biblical mail-order diploma mills please see:
“My problem is with religious frauds”
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/free.christians/msg/2920c9ef366cf7df
A quote from the above source:
“Shepherd's web site says:
"Shepherd Bible College is fully-accredited by the (World-Wide
Accreditation Commission) of Christian Educational Institutions."
THE TRUTH IS: the WWAC is a business run by Paul
Richardson. "Dr."
Paul Richardson claims that Jesus appeared to him, smiled at him, and
even touched him. So, it appears that the Shepard degree mill is
actually accredited by one fundie minister and Jason's little
organization.”
March 17, 2005 update
on Shepherd Bible College
It appears that Shepherd Bible College has moved its
entire campus from Florida to an apartment at 160 Chambers St., El
Cajon, CA (Apt. # 12), which is listed as the residence of Dennis Tio
– e.g. please see:
http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowAllList?QueryCorpNumber=C2586783
(For fun and games, run a Google search using: “160 Chambers
St.” “El Cajon”)
One wonders at which commercial moving company can pack up
an entire campus and then reassemble it inside an apartment unit. In
any case El Cajon is only a few miles from Jason’s address in San
Diego, and is the city where Jason formerly lived. Perhaps Jason and
Mr. Tio are friends (cohorts?).
What was Shepherd Bible College’s former address in Largo,
Florida?
Answer: 1305 Delbar Ct., Apt. # A
What was Dennis Tio’s former address in Largo, Florida?
Answer: 1305 Delbar Ct., Apt. # A
Mapquest.com shows Delbar Ct. as a short, residential side street.
Mapquest also shows the nearest religious school is Moody Bible
Institute – some 15.49 miles away.
Florida maintains a list of schools that have been
licensed to award various diplomas/degrees. (It even includes
“Barber Colleges”). Shepherd Bible College is not included
in this list never mind any kind of degree that it could award. Unless
Dennis Tio, “Shepherd Bible College”, or any other entity
can provide evidence to the contrary, “Shepherd Bible
College” must be considered a complete fraud as it appears to be
solely an invention of Dennis Tio. See the list maintained by the
Florida “Commission for Independent Education”. (Large PDF
file – long download)

March 21, 2005 Update
It appears that once again Shepherd Bible College has
moved its campus. This time it landed at: 12020 Wintercrest Dr., Suite
34, Lakeside, California 92040
See:
http://www.sbcollege.net/Contact%20Us%202.htm
If you go to:
http://terraserver.microsoft.com/
and key in 12020 Wintercrest Dr., Lakeside, CA you can access an
Aerial Photo which will show a large building just south of the pin
location. If you then go to
http://infospace.com/reverse.htm
and key in the above address (Don’t include the “.”
in “Dr.”), you will find that several people with different
names live at this address. Perhaps “Suite 34” is actually
“Apartment 34”.
As for Mr. Tio, it seems that at one time he claimed to be
a neurosurgeon before taking over running “Shepherd Bible
College”. See:
http://www.stpetetimes.com/2003/12/02/news_pf/Northpinellas/Church_tests_new_AIDS.shtml
Funny, a search at the American Medical Association (
http://www.ama-assn.org/) has no
record of a Dr. Dennis Tio in either Florida or California. On the
other hand, what would you expect from someone whose
“degree” is from the “Spirit of Truth
Institute”?
April 15, 2005 update
Finally, a cross check on “The Spirit of Truth
Institute” looks like it is run by “Dr.” Paul
Richardson. (Gosh, that name is beginning to sound familiar. See
above.) It seems that “Dr.” Richardson's contribution to
the world is: “I can sell you a ready-made “Bible School in
a Box” for $282!” Click here “
How
to start your own Bible School” to see how “You can get
your doctor’s degree in any religious field you wish.”
May 27, 2006 update
Dennis Tio is back in Florida and has reopened a new
version of Shepherd Bible College at 6012 31st Ave. W, Bradenton,
Florida 34209.
http://www.sbcollege.net/Admissions%20Procedures.htm
The above satellite view has 6012 31st Ave W exactly in
the center of the picture. If we weren’t deceived into
thinking that this was the
“campus of the Shepherd Bible College educational center”,
we would probably suspect that the dark-roofed buildings are condo
units in a development in Bradenton, FL.
Among other things, it seems Dennis Tio is hiding from
Child Support that he is supposed to be paying. Also, it appears that
he has run karate schools/tournaments scams in the past.
June 22, 2007 update
Shepherd Bible College has a distinction. You can pay your
tuition via PayPal. (And you better do it that way as Dennis has a typo
in his snail mail address.)
http://www.sbcns.org/Payments.htm
(Note: Still another new URL)
For additional information search Google Groups and/or the Internet
using: “Dennis Tio”
Summary of the chain
of events leading up to Jason Gastrich’s claimed Th.D. degree
1) Paul Richardson advertises that he is “Chancellor” of
“The Spirit of Truth Institute”. He advertises that he can
set anyone up with a: “Bible School in a Box” for $282! He
also states:
2) Dennis Tio’s claimed doctorate degree is from “The
Spirit of Truth Institute”. The name of Dennis Tio’s
“Bible School in a box” is “Shepherd Bible
College.” A quote from:
http://web.archive.org/web/20030805125534/http://www.sbcollege.net/Board+of+Directors.htm
“Dennis holds a Doctorate Degree in Christian Education from The
Spirit of Truth Institute”
3) Jason Gastrich’s claimed Th.D. degree is from “Shepherd
Bible
College”. (The address of which has been Dennis Tio’s
various apartments over the last several years.)
Louisiana Baptist
“University” (LBU)
Then there are Jason Gastrich’s claims of Masters
and Ph.D. degrees from Louisiana Baptist “University”.
According to his personal information page at
http://www.jasongastrich.com/personal.htm, his Ph.D. thesis is/was:
“He is currently writing his Ph.D. dissertation on the discipline
of fasting.” Hint: Jason, if you get a real job you might be able
to pay your grocery bill. There is a second hint here regarding
LBU’s “standards” to award a Ph.D. degree.
LBU
is generally regarded as
a diploma mill that churns out religious-based “degrees”.
(Run Google searches using combinations of < Louisiana
Baptist University/LBU diploma/degree mill > for
more information.) For a little fun and games as
to what LBU is and how/why it is able to exist, go to the Louisiana
Board of Regents home page at
http://www.regents.state.la.us/
and run a Google site search using: “Louisiana Baptist
University”
See if you can find:
1) “Louisiana Baptist University”
2) “legal loopholes in Act 129 of 1991 have allowed institutions
to operate without regulatory oversight in Louisiana”
3) “Whereas, the exemption from licensure allows institutions of
questionable quality and integrity to operate in Louisiana free of
Regents' oversight”
(Hint, all of the above appear in the August 27, 1998 minutes of the
Board of Regents - about 4/5 of the way down.)
(Or go directly via
http://www.regents.state.la.us/board/Minutes/1998/mi082798.htm)
Note: If any educational institution (e.g. LBU) is not listed by CHEA
(Council for Higher Education Accreditation
http://www.chea.org/), it is highly
probable
that it is a diploma/degree mill. Neither “Shepherd Bible
College” nor “Louisiana Baptist University” is listed
in
CHEA’s database. CHEA’s web page on degree mills is
a good reference for understanding “Degree Mills”.
http://www.chea.org/degreemills/default.htm
CHEA also warns about the “companion problem, the bogus
accrediting organization, sometimes referred to as an
“accreditation mill.””
A quote from
http://www.chea.org/degreemills/frmPaper.htm
“Now, early in the 21st century,
technology is the impetus for a renewed threat. In the past several
years, concern over the problem of fraudulent operators has escalated
because of the ease of creating a fraudulent institution on the
Internet. A moderately skilled web designer can very easily and quickly
create a home page for a fraudulent school with the look and feel of a
home page of a legitimate school.”
Satellite photograph of LBU’s
address at 6301 Westport
Ave. (6301 West Port Ave.) via Google Earth
Note the complete lack of parked cars.
No cars are present for the faculty or other “teaching
staff”.
No cars are present for any other operating staff.
No cars are present for any “students”.
The larger Google view shows many parked cars at the
restaurants and stores that are just off the top edge of the picture. A
satellite photograph shown on Yahoo (taken on some other normal day -
see Yahoo maps) shows a similar lack of cars at LBU.
Where is the teaching staff?
Where are the students?
What exactly goes on at LBU?
These satellite pictures imply that no significant
activities are taking place at the building, and its only use might be
as a warehouse for local churches. In any case, as measured via Google
Earth, LBU’s “campus” is at most, a single building
that measures about 120’ by 100’.
It is interesting to note that the same Jason Gastrich who claims to
have a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (and has also claimed a “Doctorate of
Religious Arts in Theology (Th.D.) degree” - see above) has
subsequently stated:
There is a “hint”
here regarding the Ph.D. degrees claimed by other creationists. It is
common practice for creationists to tout “advanced degrees”
that in reality, are either “self awarded” or that
originate from
similar unaccredited religious institutions.
There is still additional information regarding the Diploma Mill
status/origins of Louisiana Baptist University and Sheppard Bible
College at:
http://groups.google.com/group/free.christians/msg/2920c9ef366cf7df
It also appears that Jason Gastrich has claimed to be a
professor at Coleman College. The following entry (sent in to
“Alumni Updates” by Jason) appears in the
“Alumni Updates” at:
http://www.psychology.sdsu.edu/new-web/newsletters/PsyPhenomena_S-00_E.pdf
“Jason Gastrich (1997) is a
professor at Coleman College in La Mesa, CA.”
If you Google-search Coleman College’s website at
http://www.coleman.edu/, there is
no record of a Gastrich. A Google web search using
Gastrich “Coleman College” did find a
court record that indicates that at one time Gastrich worked in the
Career Services department at Coleman College. (See “Does Jason
Gastrich tell the Truth?” below) Finally, perhaps Jason can
explain why he gave up a “professorship” to become a self
proclaimed pauper. (See “I am a pauper” in
http://www.durangobill.com/JasonLawsuit.html
)
Note: Private correspondence with an individual at Coleman College
indicates that the Gastrich in the court document (See footnote # 6
http://www.dol.gov/brb/decisions/lngshore/unpublished/Nov04/04-0374.htm
) may have been Jason’s father and that Jason Gastrich
never had any position (in Carrier Services or any other capacity) at
Coleman College.
Also note: Coleman College is a legitimate, accredited school
specializing
in degree programs oriented toward computers and Information
Technology. Jason’s claimed educational background does not
indicate any preparation in these fields of study, and it seems most
unlikely that he could pass any of Coleman’s courses never mind
teach in any of these fields.
"Fake degrees equal fake integrity."
-- Don Reasons
But let’s take a
look at the real “Dr” Jason Gastrich, “Ph. D.”
Originally, I had a “Print Screen” image of Jason here. The
original may still be present at
http://www.jcsm.org/Pictures/Arizona0087.jpg
(It’s free, try clicking on it for the real Jason.)
Alas, the above picture does not display his true character; therefore
this second picture might be more helpful.
“Jason Gastrich
and the magical uphill flowing Colorado River”
(Title of a discussion sequence at “talk.origins” within
“Google Groups”. Contains about 37 articles pertaining to
Jason Gastrich’s assertion that the Colorado River flows uphill
through the Grand Canyon.)
Creationism =
Ignorance of Geology and Gravity
Of far more significance is what Jason Gastrich has
asserted in his forum posts within his JCSM website. (The forum was
discussing the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.) The object of the
sequence presented here is to document Jason Gastrich’s complete
ignorance of reality. He asserts and apparently believes that the
Colorado River flows uphill in the Grand Canyon.
The following pictures were captured via “Print
Screen” from the original source at
http://jcsm.ws/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=647, and are shown here in
compliance with the “
Fair Use”
provision of U. S. Copyright Laws.
If this original forum source has been subsequently
modified or removed, and if you would like to see the entire original
forum sequence, I can supply a copy of the forum web page as presented
in either the original 2002 format or the 2003 format. Just send me an
E-mail and I will return it with either/both versions added as an
attachment.
Please note Jason’s statement:
“How can you look at the enormous, vast GC and the river flowing
through it and say that river isn't tiny?
The river doesn't just meander,
it flows uphill.”
He is serious in his assertion that the Colorado River is
flowing uphill in the Grand Canyon. Here’s a hint. Rivers flow
downhill. (Under special conditions (e.g. a tidal bore) this can be
temporarily reversed.)
Subsequent to this erroneous statement by “Dr” Jason
Gastrich, the next posting gives the correct information.
Note the statement
“That river
does NOT flow uphill.”
At this point it should be obvious to most people that the
Colorado River does not flow uphill. (Please feel free to use the link
at the bottom of the picture to view my web page showing the actual
downhill gradient of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.)
Instead of realizing that he has made a mistake,
“Dr” Jason compounds his ignorance by arrogantly accusing
the poster with
“You’re incorrect.”
As “evidence”, Jason then pasted in several paragraphs from
my “Formation of the Grand Canyon” paper. It is obvious
that Jason did not understand that the process described illustrates
the principle of “antecedence”, and has nothing to do with
rivers flowing uphill. In addition, even though Jason is a YEC, he also
failed to note that my paper explicitly states that it covers 100
million years of geologic history.
You would expect that someone with “post graduate
degrees” would know that rivers don’t flow uphill. Perhaps
now you can understand what a typical Young Earth Creationist really
represents.
As a postscript to the above sequence, in December 2003
Jason Gastrich wrote “The Grand Canyon is good, geological
evidence for the young earth flood.” Search Google Groups using:
“Grand Canyon” Gastrich dude
or use the above quote.
This entire sequence is an example of the geologic ignorance that is
typical of Young Earth Creationists.

Jason Gastrich and the
Farrell Till “Gay” Forgery
Perhaps the most telling example of Jason Gastrich’s
lack of morality was revealed in a series of postings in Google Groups.
It appears that Jason Gastrich had a disagreement regarding a Mr.
Farrell Till. Jason’s way of “getting even” consisted
of:
1) Writing a “gay” E-mail message.
2) Forging Farrell Till’s name to it.
3) Sending it out.
There is a great deal of information regarding this forgery by Jason
Gastrich that can be traced by running a “Google Groups”
search using the following as search terms:
Gastrich gay
The following is an exact quote as it was originally posted by Stephen
Geddes at:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/soc.politics/msg/029cd6b7a633aa3d
WARNING ABOUT JASON GASTRICH:
Jason Gastrich pretends that he upholds 'Christian principles'.
But
in reality he is a liar and an admitted fraudster. He cannot be
trusted.
Gastrich admitted to forging an email under another person's name, and
defaming him by pretending that person admitted to being GAY:
This is the original (forged) message by Jason Gastrich:
"This is a little embarrassing, but lately, I've had some gay urges.
You could even call me a "gay old Gus".
I'm considering joining a gay men's group. Does anybody know
what they are like?
I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't have mentioned this.

States:

I also apologize for sending the gay urges post. It was only a joke,
but it was a poor one. I was going to apologize the other day, after
President Bush made the apology for the 16 words about Iraq seeking
uranium from Africa. If the President can make a mistake and
apologize,
I suppose I can do the same. Sorry Mr. Till.
Take care,
Jason
.
.
.
.
Jason Gastrich is a fraud, cheat, liar and dishonest scoundrel.
The above tactics illustrated by Jason Gastrich are common to many
Young Earth Creationists. They believe they are entitled to use any
tactic (fair or foul) in the pursuit of forcing their viewpoints on
other people.
Jason Gastrich and the
www.skepticsannotatedbiblecorrected.com website
Jason Gastrich has self-published material where he tries
to
“correct” any “discrepancies” in the Bible.
There used to be a website at www.skepticsannotatedbiblecorrected.com
that documented that Jason’s work was poorly researched, and in
general was not very accurate. This criticism of Jason’s work has
been described as “It looks like a very well-researched rejoinder
to Gastrich's writings. Definitely worth reading.”
Jason reacts sharply to anyone who criticizes him
In today’s Internet environment you have to be
indexed in Google if you want people to find your website. Jason set
out to have the www.skepticsannotatedbiblecorrected.com (SABC) website
removed from Google’s indexes. He sent a DMCA complaint to Google
to have the web site removed from the listings. Google removed the
links to the SABC website. (The former owner of the website lives in
New Zealand and possibly had no way of contesting Jason’s
actions.)
The above picture shows what Google generated (as of
7/24/04) if you search using: skepticsannotatedbiblecorrected
At the bottom, you can see a message that 3 links have been omitted.
Presumably these are links to the old SABC website. If you follow the
link at the bottom of the page or use the last active index link, you
can see the DMCA complaint sent by Jesus Christ Saves Ministry
(Jason’s website) to Google.
Subsequently the original SABC web site disappeared from the Internet.
All that is left is partial remains at:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.skepticsannotatedbiblecorrected.com
The webmaster for the original SABC website restored most
of the original data at
http://www.gastrich.org
which in turn evolved to
http://www.inerrancyexposed.com.
Unfortunately, both of these websites have subsequently disappeared
from the Internet. They will be missed. The “Wayback
Machine” does have a record of the old information at:
http://web.archive.org/web/20060211150838/http://www.inerrancyexposed.com/
Jason Gastrich and the
Aboutjasongastrich.org website
As noted in Dave Touretzky's (Research Professor at
Carnegie Mellon University) quote below
“One of
the favorite tools of both cults and corporations seeking to take
embarrassing information off the Internet is to falsely
claim violation of a copyright or trademark.” Once again,
Mr. Gastrich used his “favorite tool”, but this time it was
against the “About Jason Gastrich” website.
Despite Jason’s claim, it seems in fact that the
picture was not copied from Mr. Gastrich’s website. However, this
did not stop Mr. Gastrich from making a false claim as part of his
continuing efforts to stop anyone from pointing out some of his
embarrassing gaffes. Original documentation of the above can still be
seen at:

Jason Gastrich and
Amazon.com
As mentioned above, Jason Gastrich has self-published
material
where he tries to “correct” any “discrepancies”
in the Bible. He has self-produced a CD-ROM that he tries to sell
through
Amazon.com. If a product is sold at Amazon.com, Amazon.com invites
people familiar with the product to write reviews as a guide for other
people that might want to buy the product. Several people apparently
did write critical reviews of Jason Gastrich’s CD-ROM. Jason
apparently did something so that Amazon.com removed these unfavorable
reviews. Please see the
“Gastrich again has
negative reviews removed from Amazon” sequence in Google
Groups. (Run a search using the above quote.) Only favorable reviews
were left. (How many pseudonyms does Jason use?)
Alternately search Google Groups using:
Gastrich “Amazon.com”
for a large number of hits regarding this subject.
An additional question concerns Amazon.com. Why did
Amazon.com react like a robotic stooge when a known cultist made a
false claim thereby denying 1st amendment freedom of speech rights to
legitimate reviewers?
Jason Gastrich and the
RootsWeb.com Website
RootsWeb is a website designed to help people research
their ancestry. As part of their service, they allow users to post
information about their own family trees as a potential help to others
who may be able to use this information to find a common ancestor.
Guess where Jason Gastrich stuck 5 consecutive personal advertisements?
The above “PrintScreen” image was generated on
Feb. 7, 2007. As per usual, Jason has no respect for the rights and
privacy of other people - in this case, RootsWeb users. (Note: The Los
Angeles address may not be up to date as Jason’s latest address
appears to be in the northern suburbs of San Diego.)
Follow-up as of Feb. 10, 2007 - The author notified
RootsWeb about Jason’s advertisements, and RootsWeb’s
editors have removed them.
Plagiarism –
Unauthorized copying/use of other peoples material
It seems that Mr. Gastrich also has a bad habit of
unauthorized copying of other people’s material, and then using
it
to promote his own interests. All of this is without permission of the
owner, and usually without any acknowledgement to the owner. He also
presents copied information as his own “intellectual
property” even though it originally came from someone else. Some
examples:
1) Mr. Gastrich copied a members list from
http://www.alt-atheism.org and
then started posting “public prayers” in an attempt to
embarrass the members. See:
“Jason and the aa list”
“The
list belongs to me. I gave my permission for the list to be posted on
the alt.atheism newsgroup website. Jason did not ask for my permission
to post my list on his website. And, he very sneakily stole a copy of
the list when he was denied access to the newsgroup website. Therefore,
Jason is a thief, a liar and a fraud.”
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/free.christians/msg/915a614f8cfe63fd?hl=en
2) Mr. Gastrich copied about 10,000 web pages of
the “Catholic Encyclopedia” from
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/,
and posted them on his website. This is a product that the New Advent
people are trying to sell. See
“Massive jcsm
copyright violation?” & “Copyright Violation
Update” in Google Groups:
http://groups-beta.google.com/
3) Mr. Gastrich has copied thousands of pages
from the
“Encyclopedia Britannica”,
and posted them on his website.
For example, see his Encyclopedia Britannica index page:
http://www.jcsm.org/StudyCenter/Encyclopedia_Britannica/
4) Mr. Gastrich has copied over 11,000
quotations from Bartlett’s
“Familiar
Quotations”, and posted them on his website. For example,
see his “Familiar Quotations” index page:
http://www.jcsm.org/StudyCenter/FamiliarQuotations/
5) Mr. Gastrich also appears to have copied
photographs (clearly marked as copyrighted) from the “Sacred
Sites of Ethiopia” web site, and pasted them on his website as
well as forwarding them to others. Details at:
http://groups.google.com/group/free.christians/msg/fcaa997dc57d8ea6?hl=en&
6) Search Google and/or Google Groups using
combinations of:
Gastrich, stole, unauthorized copy, plagiarism
for other examples.
7) Jason Gastrich and the 500 Disney
Coloring Pages (See below).
Jason Gastrich and the
500 Disney Coloring Pages
As part of using other people’s
material to promote his own
interests, Jason Gastrich has copied “500 Disney Coloring
Pages” to his website
and invites viewers to use them for free. There are another 400 pages
that he offers
if you make “any donation to JCSM!” (The last quote
includes a link to Jason’s
donation page.)
The picture above
is a “Print Screen” copy of Google’s cache of the web
page that links to these
pictures. Jason is convinced that he has a right to copy and use any
material
that has been developed by anyone else. To add insult to injury, Jason
posts a
copyright notice at the bottom of each of these pages implying he has a
copyright to these pages even though they were originally products of
the Walt
Disney Company.
Jason’s DMCA
Attacks against my website
Jason Gastrich has launched frivolous DMCA claims/attacks
against my website in an attempt to shut it down. He was successful in
having the entire website shut down (Complete Internet
disconnect/shutdown) from late July 23, 2004 to 4 PM July 26, 2004. It
would appear that Jason’s “modus operandi” is to
invent “fairy tales”, pretend they represent the truth, and
then use whatever means possible to stifle anyone presenting evidence
of Jason being ignorant or telling outright lies.
Jason Gastrich’s
frivolous lawsuit against me
From Dave Touretzky's (Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon
University) web page at:
http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Terrorism/form-letter.html
“One of the favorite tools of both cults and
corporations seeking to take embarrassing information off the Internet
is to falsely claim violation of a copyright or trademark.”
On Aug. 4, 2004 Jason Gastrich filed a frivolous $2,000
lawsuit against me as part of a continuing campaign to try to stop my
documentation of his outright lies and ignorance.
to see a photograph of this $2,000 claim.
When the case finally had its day in court, Jason didn’t even
show up – confirming the frivolous nature of his claim.
He filed the action without using an attorney (It is
unlikely that any legitimate attorney would take the case.) under
California’s forma pauperis (“I am a pauper”)
provision.
Click
here for details regarding Jason’s willful falsifications
regarding the case. Jason’s willful lies have been documented
here and in various web forums. As to the reason why Jason continues to
not tell the truth, the following possibility should be considered.
Perhaps Jason is so engrossed in his narcissistic, egotistical world
that he
is quite unable to distinguish between his religious fantasies and the
real world.
A possible reason for these delusions could reside in
Jason’s past.
“I had bought a 12 pack of beer,
a pack of
cigarettes and a bag of pot. Like I had done so many times before, I
consumed them, trying to fill the void and looking for a good
time.”
“I was smoking pot almost every night”

Justice at NYU School of Law. Please see “Threats to Fair Use

Jason’s
“Business Address”
Jason has moved his “ministry” several times
in the last few years. As of early 2008 it is listed at 6866 Linda Vista
Rd., San Diego, CA 92111. (For example please see
http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowAllList?QueryCorpNumber=C2292276
)
A Google search using < “6866 Linda
Vista” > shows a large number of other
“businesses” using this same address. Must be a busy place.
For that matter, a couple of checks show that, at least intermittently, Jason’s business
license has been suspended - hence his business operation is not legal.
However, staying within the law doesn’t seem to matter to Jason.
More about Jason
Gastrich
Jason Gastrich has moved several times since he left his
old address at 2215 Judson St. - apartment 22D. Some of these moves can
be traced through ZabaSearch.
As of January 2006, ZabaSearch showed that Jason was
living with his parents at 1558 Fair Glen Rd,
El Cajon, CA 92019-3715 .
http://www.zabasearch.com/query1_zaba.php?sname=gastrich&state=CA&ref=$ref&se=$se&doby=&city=&name_style=1
It appears that Jason’s
ministerial/guitar lesson/soccer coaching efforts have been a financial
failure,
and he is now forced to rely on his parents for financial support.
There is additional free information about Jason at
http://intelius.com, and/or you can pay
to get access to legal records about him. Note: A subsequent search by
PeopleData confirms this same address information:
http://www.peopledata.com/results.php?sname=gastrich&state=CA&name_style=1
Note: It’s interesting that for the
2006/2007 soccer season, Jason was bragging about his soccer coaching
job with Kearny High School. Of course, he neglected to mention that
under his coaching efforts the team had a somewhat less than stellar
league record of
0 wins, 8 losses, and 2 ties. In
contrast, he has been very quiet about the 2007/2008 season. It seems
that the San Diego Unified School District fired Jason at the beginning
of the season. (Apparently this “hurt” Jason’s inflated ego as he
subsequently filed a lawsuit against Kearny High School - see “Some of
Jason Gastrich’s Other Lawsuits” below.)
As of March 2006 it appears that the Gastrich family has
moved to 11189 Avenida De Los Lobos, San Diego, CA 92127.
(Info via ZabaSearch) In Nov. 2006 it looks like Jason has moved to the
Pacific Beach suburb of San Diego.

Note: If you go to the ZabaSearch home page, click on
“Privacy”, and then click on “Why ZabaSearch is
Legal” (or go directly to
http://writ.news.findlaw.com/ramasastry/20050512.html),
you will see a legal commentary from FindLaw.com stating
why ZabaSearch is legal and why I have a right to post the above
information.
Dec. 2008 Update: It appears that Jason’s current address is 4730 Noyes St. #412, San Diego, CA
http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowAllList?QueryCorpNumber=C2292276
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/res/924805876.html
which is listed as a 906 sq. ft. condo.
http://real-estate.nextag.com/propID_56234276/4730-Noyes-St-%23412/San-Diego/California/homes-html“Rumor” has it that the condo expense is being subsidized by Jason’s parents.
If you want Jason’s home telephone number, try the following:
http://www.albionsoccer.org/docs/psl/Fa/U6%20Fall%20Schedules%202008.pdfNote:
The legal opinion expressed at the above “findlaw” website includes my
legal right to post Jason’s address. Both the “kepler” and “caigslist”
listings are/were publicly/legally/freely available on the Internet,
and thus Jason’s address is public information.
Hey Jason. How does it feel to force your dad to give up
his retirement and go back to work just to support you? (Jason’s
father’s name is Lindsay Rexford Gastrich. At one time he ran an
employment agency before retiring a few years ago.)
http://sqljunkies.com/Forums/Search/default.aspx?SearchFor=1&SearchText=RexFord

This is the
same Jason Gastrich that idolizes Kent Hovind. For example, see:
http://macsd.org/index6.htm
- “Dr. Kent Hovind: The
Dangers of Evolution” - Oct. 14, 2006
http://jcsm.org/biblelessons/Steeling2006.htm#Kent_Hovind
http://jcsm.org/Creation/Hovind/seminar_introduction.htm
and of course,
Oct. 16, 2006 - “On Tuesday, my
friend and co-laborer
for Christ, Kent Hovind, is going on trial.”
http://jcsm.org/Online/WeeklyDevotions484.htm
(Alternately, run a Google search using: < jcsm
Hovind > or < Gastrich Hovind >
)
If you haven’t kept up with the news, as of Nov. 2, 2006 Kent
Hovind has been found guilty of 58 counts of tax fraud, and for the
next 10 years will have his room and board provided as a “guest
of the Feds”. ( Enter Kent Hovind’s name in the following Bureau of Prisons link to find his current location:
http://www.bop.gov/iloc2/LocateInmate.jsp )
Kent Hovind has
claimed he has an IQ of 160. Perhaps he is trying to demonstrate what
happens when you poison a good brain with Creationism.
Kent Hovind listed Patriot University (now
Patriot Bible University) as the source of his advanced degrees.
Patriot Bible University is another religious school that is not
accredited by either the U.S. Dept. of Education (
http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp)
or by CHEA (
http://www.chea.org/default.asp
).

Patriot Bible University has been
authorized to operate in
the state of Colorado (forced religious exemption?), but it does not
have accreditation by the state of Colorado.
The ever increasing list of abuses by Jason Gastrich makes it
progressively more difficult to include all the photographs/pictures on
a
single web page.
Earlier, I had three larger photographs/pictures of Patriot Bible
University displayed here. To conserve space and download time, I have
moved them to a separate page.
http://www.durangobill.com/Patriot_Bible_University.html
The photograph shown here is a small version of one of
these. It shows what appears to be Patriot Bible University’s
“entire campus” in what was formerly a small medical clinic
building. All three “Patriot Bible University” photographs
were taken by the author from a car window on French St., Del Norte, CO
on Nov. 22, 2006. Permission is granted to everyone to copy/use them
without any obligation.
OSAS - “Once
Saved Always Saved”
One of the things that you will hear from religious
fundamentalists is that they consider themselves “saved”.
The word “saved” has a hidden meaning to the
creationists/fundamentalists. Once they refer to themselves as
“saved”, they consider themselves “always
saved”. Then they use this as an excuse to operate outside the
moral and legal standards that apply to everyone else.
They don’t have to worry about telling the truth
since God will forgive them. They feel free to buy academic degrees
from “degree mills” because God wants to help them. They
feel justified in using other people’s intellectual (or real)
property because they claim they are working for God.
This is why Kent Hovind and Jason Gastrich claim
educational “titles” that they have bought from
unaccredited bible schools. This is why Kent Hovind thinks he
doesn’t have to pay taxes when everyone else has to.
And…
“Also remember that 'once saved
always saved' is Jason's motto. Thus, he is ALLOWED to be unchristian
to get his own way. It is for this reason that he seems so hypocritical
and twists every letter of law to suit his own agenda rather than
interpreting the spirit of the law.”

Run a Google search using < “Once saved always saved”
> for more information.
Does Jason Gastrich
tell the Truth?
“Can” Jason Gastrich tell the Truth?
At MySpace.com (
http://myspace.com/jasongastrich)
Jason states: “I have a beautiful 3 year old daughter named
Jordan and a wonderful wife named Sarine. Glory to God.” You
might want to ask him what the following 2 strings of characters
signify.
DV019800
D490908
(Hint, check the San Diego Superior Court numbering system)
http://www.sandiego.courts.ca.gov/CISPublic/casedetail?casenum=DV019800&casesite=SD&applcode=D
and/or
http://www.sandiego.courts.ca.gov/CISPublic/casedetail?casenum=D490908&casesite=SD&applcode=D
On the other hand, maybe Jason’s definition of a
wonderful wife and marriage includes claims/counter claims for Divorce
and Domestic Violence that make it into the court system.
A quote from Jason Gastrich’s “Response to Hate
Sites” web page as of 9/24/06 (If Jason changes his story again,
I can attach a copy of this original page to an E-mail and return it as
an attachment.)

Some of Jason Gastrich’s Other Lawsuits
A quick search using the San Diego court system search facility (
http://www.sdcourt.ca.gov/portal/page?_pageid=55,1056871&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
) indicates that Jason Gastrich likes to file lawsuits against just
about everyone who hurts his feelings. In addition to the lawsuit that
he filled against me and his marital squabbles, the court record shows
the following: (Search using last name of Gastrich)
Jason Gastrich vs. The Hotel Del Coronado: Case Number SC176058
Jason Gastrich vs. Capital One Bank: Case Number IC880480
Jason Gastrich vs. Kearny High School: Case Number 37-2007-00018630-SC-SC-CTL
Jason Gastrich vs. Kearny High School: Case Number 37-2008-0001403-SC-SC-CTL
Jason Gastrich vs. Helm Management: Case Number 37-2007-00017987-SC-SC-CTL
Jason Gastrich vs. SNS Movers: Case Number 37-2007-00010680-SC-SC-CTL
Potential employers take note. If you even question Jason’s inflated ego, he just might sue you.
(The large number of other Gastrich listings implies that filing lawsuits is a family tradition.)
How desperate is Jason
to have people worship Jason Gastrich?
The following item appeared as a posting in Google Groups.
(Note: I
have not verified the statements with the author. Also, the author of
these statements has a large number of postings that alternately
support and then disagree with Mr. Gastrich.)
“Jason Gastrich paid me $500 to be his friend”
“Jason paid me $500 to be his friend and support him!”

there
are additional hits.)
How many people have an ego problem to the degree that
they resort to paying Google for a “Sponsored Link” that
connects to a web page featuring a photograph of themselves?
As of July
2006 Jason Gastrich was paying Google for a “Sponsored
Link” with the caption:
“Dr. Jason Gastrich … Who is this guy, anyway? You might
be surprised!”
(Run a Google or Google Groups search using “Gastrich” to
see this “Sponsored Link”. Note: Every time someone clicks
on this “Sponsored Link” Jason has to pay a commission to
Google. The web page that the “Sponsored Link” connects to
changes occasionally. The same situation exists at AOL search
http://search.aol.com/aol/webhome
)

there is just too much good competition.”

Absolute Truth of the
Bible?
Finally, Mr. Gastrich asserts that every word in the Bible is the
absolute truth.
“I conclude that the Bible is a book without error.”
http://www.biblemaster.com/qanda/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=2&TopicID=3112&PagePosition=1
He attempts to defend this assertion by selling CD-ROMs
(e.g. search using “Jason Gastrich” at amazon.com) that
“explain” all the “discrepancies”. According to
an article originally published in the New York Times, Mr.
Gastrich’s assertion is completely out of touch with reality.
(This also applies to anyone else who believes the Bible is inerrant.)
